Coffee Machines & Equipment

Commercial Coffee Machines

The real test comes when demand arrives all at once.

Coffee orders rarely arrive evenly. One minute, the coffee machine is idle; the next, it's supporting a rush of orders, self-service demand or high-volume beverage service. Some venues rely on trained baristas and full espresso service, while others prioritise speed, consistency and minimal staff involvement. The wrong coffee machine for commercial use can slow service and create bottlenecks during peak trade.

Industry Kitchens has supplied commercial coffee machines to cafés, bakeries, restaurants, hotels and hospitality venues across Australia for over 20 years. We've supported small coffee counters and high-volume operations where coffee is a significant part of daily trade. We know which machines continue to perform as demand grows and which operators outgrow sooner than expected.

Match Your Coffee Machine to Your Venue's Workflow

Not every operation needs a traditional espresso machine. Venues where coffee quality, customisation and barista service are central to the customer experience often require greater control, while others may be better suited to automatic, vending or self-service solutions. Daily coffee volume, preparation requirements and who will be making the coffee often narrow the choice between the commercial coffee machines for sale across the category.

Coffee Machine FAQs

What size coffee machine for commercial use do I need?

If you serve up to 80 coffees a day, a single-group machine is often enough. For 80 to 250 coffees a day, a two-group machine is usually the best choice. If you serve more than 250 coffees daily, a three-group machine can help keep up with peak periods and reduce customer wait times.

Should I choose an automatic or traditional espresso machine?

Choose a traditional espresso machine if you have trained baristas and want more control over coffee quality. An automatic machine is often a better option for restaurants, hotels, offices, and other venues where staff need to make consistent coffee quickly.

What equipment do I need with a coffee machine?

Most espresso machine setups also require a commercial grinder, water filter, milk jugs, tampers, and a knock tube. Having the right equipment alongside your machine can make a noticeable difference to coffee quality, staff workflow, and how smoothly service runs during peak periods.

How much space do I need for a coffee machine?

Allow space for the machine, grinder, milk preparation area, and barista workflow. Most two-group machine setups need around 1.5 to 2 metres of bench space to give staff enough room to work efficiently during service.

How do I know when it's time to upgrade my coffee machine?

It may be time to upgrade if your coffee sales have grown beyond what the machine was originally sized to handle. A machine that comfortably supports 50–60 coffees per day can start slowing service once volumes push past 150 coffees or multiple staff need to use it during peak periods. Frequent breakdowns, longer wait times and increasing maintenance costs are often signs that the machine is no longer keeping pace with demand.
