SKOPE REFLEX: A NEW WAY OF LOOKING AT FOOD STORAGE REFRIGERATION
SKOPE’S latest range of underbench and upright fridges and freezers reflects the demands of the modern commercial kitchen - and responds with innovation and strength.
SKOPE Refrigeration today launched its new range of commercial food storage fridges and freezers at Fine Food Australia 2019, the region’s most important hospitality and food service trade show.
ReFlex is a completely new series representing unprecedented value to food service businesses. It offers a potent combination of leading-edge qualities, from energy efficiency and SKOPE Connect app-enabled innovation through to its reliability and strength.
“It’s fair to say we took nothing for granted with ReFlex,” says Guy Stewart, Managing Director of SKOPE Industries.
“We looked at the traditional requirements of a professional kitchen and combined these with the modern requirements of food storage in today’s back-of-house environments. We asked what the line cook and other food service professionals need and care about in a modern context. Nothing was assumed.”
“The result is like nothing else on the market. It’s a rare sight – combined innovation and strength, from a local manufacturer no less, that’s priced to shake up the market. Reflex continues SKOPE’s promise to the food service market.”
ReFlex is a product of the largest purpose-built R&D centre for commercial refrigeration in Australasia, based at SKOPE’s manufacturing facility in Christchurch, New Zealand. It is here that every SKOPE product is designed and tested using environmental simulations that accurately mirror the challenges posed by Australia’s tough seasonal climates.
Innovation that saves
ReFlex features the latest generation of SKOPE-connect, the refrigeration control and monitoring app launched at last year’s Fine Food Australia with the ActiveCore 2 general display fridge.
As well as offering all the inherent energy saving and food waste-reduction benefits of the original, SKOPE-connect for ReFlex features something very powerful just for back-of-house.
“If you want to store a different type of food item in a food storage fridge, like seafood instead of red meat, you traditionally have to call in a technician to change the temperature range for you. Equally, many businesses have to purchase specialist fridges for different food types, which can be inflexible, very costly and inefficient,” says George Bell, SKOPE-connect Product Manager.
“But with SKOPE-connect and ReFlex, you can instantly change the temperature range using pre-selects like live seafood and poultry in the fridges, and frozen desserts and gelato serve in the freezers.”
“Even if you just want to optimize food quality, safety and shelf life, you now can with a simple tap on your smartphone screen.”
As well as boasting SKOPE-connect, ReFlex offers exceptional energy efficiency, dramatically reducing customer’s power bills.
This is achieved by applying the hydrocarbon R290, a natural refrigerant with virtually zero global warming impact, to a removable refrigeration cartridge design – making ReFlex a green choice for carbon-conscious business owners.
This cartridge, as well as SKOPE-connect, allows for quicker and easier repair by qualified service technicians, reducing any potential downtime and business disruption for owners.
Strength that lasts
ReFlex has been built to be a long-term solution that food service businesses can rely on for years.
Built with food-grade 304 stainless steel and designed with an eye for real world requirements, ReFlex is here to roll with the punches.
“We have a lot of experience in this area and we know how tough any back-of-house equipment needs to be, so we’ve really put ReFlex through its paces,” says Nigel Chapman, Design Manager.
“Commercial-grade kitchen fridges and freezers come under heavy abuse. Doors are slammed countless times each day, shelves are overloaded, the body paneling is kicked – these kinds of products must be real workhorses. But strength and reliability were the top must-haves for this series, and with the usual maintenance and care required of any commercial fridge we’re confident that ReFlex could still be in use 10, 15 or 20 years from now.”
But that’s not the end of the story…
Alongside the ReFlex series, SKOPE is soft-launching ProSpec, a series that will become the ultimate range of food storage fridges and freezers when the first models go on sale in November.
Designed for culinary professionals with very specific performance, aesthetic and ergonomics requirements, ProSpec sets a new standard. As well as containing the key benefits of ReFlex, the ProSpec series will offer a wide range of options and custom configurations.
The upright ProSpec fridges being exhibited for the first time at Fine Food Australia feature SKOPE’s world-leading ActiveCore cartridge refrigeration system – which provides incredible efficiency and quiet performance.
“For many top chefs and operators, they want their refrigeration to be built like a tank and perform like an F1 car, but with the quietness and efficiency of an electric vehicle, and all in a sports car’s body,” Guy says.
“That is ProSpec. It really is unique.”
